The need to set up an association of Spice traders was felt by the Spice Industry since a long time to resolve the issues facing the trade and to represent the trade at appropriate levels. A group of friends took the initative and embarked on a journey. An informal gathering of about 200 traders on 05th June, 2016 , as Saffrony Resort - Mahesana - Gujarat, set the tone. Traders from various states attended the meeting and gave their approval. Office bearers and the Board of Directors were constituted at the meeting. It was decided that it will be a two layered set up comprising of the Trustees who will guide the Board & office bearers with their knowledge and experience.
Thus, began the journey of the Federation. In the beginning it was known as the "Seed & Spices Stakeholders Association (SSSA)". But, the Trustees and the Board decided that work for such a noble cause for the trade cannot be a limited one and there-fore decided to form a Federation with limitless boundries. The Trustees , office bearers & the Board of Directors consist of eminent leaders from the Spice Trade.
The one of its only kind in the country, the Federation also works as a catalyst between the farmers and the Industry. The Federation conducts programs for farmers during the year and also rewards them for their Good Agricultural Practices at the Annual Trade meet, where upcoming crop estimates are presented. Awards are also given to the Best performers of the Spice Industry and discussions on various topics related to business and the Spice Industry are held at the two day event. The Federation has earned its reputation in the Spice Industry by presenting accurate crop survey figures. As a part of its social responsibility, the Federation imparts training to Agricultural University students by involving them in the crop survey, as we feel they are the future of the country and young minds need to be imparted with practical training. We also conduct mid-term meets each year and felicitate the legends of the Spice Industry.
We are now a family of over 600 from more than 15 states and still growing. The faith imposed by the members is motivating the Trustees & The Board of directors to take the Federation to new heights.
